Frequently Asked Questions

General Wedding Questions:

Can you hold my wedding date for me?
Absolutely! You can book your wedding by signing the wedding agreement and paying your non-refundable/non-transferable booking retainer.
However, we do not offer 'soft holds.'


Will Jen be at my wedding?
If you are booking a wedding with Jen as your lead artist/stylist, then she will be there.
Keep in mind that if you're booking a wedding with the Jen Plus Colour Team, Jen will most likely not be on-location.


Can I only book you for some of my services and have another hair and makeup team booked too?
No. There is an Exclusivity Clause. Which means that when you book JPC, you agree to work with JPC Weddings exclusively for the hair and makeup services for your wedding or special event.

How much is a trial?
One hands-on Trial Session (Preview Appointment) is provided in salon leading up to the big day. You will go over the hair and makeup look that you're wanting to replicate on the big day. This Hair and makeup appointment is provided in the cost when booking your wedding with Jen Plus Colour Weddings.


Where will I come to you for my Hair and Makeup Trial (Preview Appointment)?
Your trial will be held at The Luckiest Hare - 74399 Highway 111 Suite H, Palm Desert


But I don't want to book you until after the trial! What should I do?
We do not provide trials without a wedding booking. Please look over our portfolio and see if the look you're going for is represented in our work. You are more than welcome to book a separate hair and makeup service appointment if you'd would like to experience a separate service from your wedding booking.

Do you travel to me for my wedding day? 
Absolutely, we prefer to be where my couple is for their most magical day!  All on-location events require travel fees  (these fees include any lodging, valet, parking, meters, rental cars, or flights).

What are your wedding prices? 
Please use the contact portal in regards to wedding bookings. On average one Bride, booking hair and makeup (which includes your in-salon hair and makeup Trial Appointment) and 3 party members (hair and makeup) is approximately $1500*. Again, please inquire to receive current service information, as *prices are subject to change.
Our menu is custom designed to be accepting for all folx involved in the wedding, inclusive of all genders!


How much are you salon services? 
Please look over on the salon Services page. All services are gender inclusive.

What brands do you use?
We stock professional and luxury products in our kits. These include Makeup Forever, Nars, Anastasia, Becca, Laura Mercier, Mac, Alterna, Kevin Murphy and more. If you have a specific allergy to a product, please disclose that information before the service begins.

What are your wedding COVID cancellation policies?

All weddings booked before March 2020, have been honored transfers for all my couple's.
However, as of October 2020, we are all aware of the challenge that is COVID-19. If a couple chooses to book their wedding after October 2020, they assume the risks involved, such as contracting COVID or having to cancel, downsize or move a wedding.

We are licensed and allowed to operate salons in the state of California, even if weddings are being cancelled or moved. When we accept a booking, we are forgoing all other bookings. Therefore,
 if event is postponed or cancelled without proper notice; couple must complete a Cancellation Agreement and all monies paid will be forfeited. If Client chooses to book another date a new Wedding Agreement and retainer is required. 

How do you sanitize your kit?
Before Covid entered the world, I was teased for my obsession with cleanliness at times. So, now more than ever, sanitation and cleanliness is stronger then ever! The JPC team takes sanitation very seriously.

Jen brings her own table and makeup chair that is sanitized between clients. Services always begin with washed hands. Our makeup kits are stocked with plenty of disposable applicators to avoid any cross contamination. We do not practice "double dipping". Every client will have a sealed and disinfected set of makeup brushes used for their service. Prior to arrival to a job; All makeup brushes are cleaned, disinfected and then placed into a UV Sanitizer light. We do not use the back of our hands for makeup applications. 
Every time a product is used, it's de-potted into an artist's palette.

Makeup Questions:

I'm androgynous. Can you work with me to honor my makeup needs?
We would be honored to. Our menu offers services for folx that don't prefer "traditional makeup". We do our best to listen and provide the best service possible. Even if it's simply moisturizer, chapstick and combing those brows.

Do you offer tattoo cover up?
Not at this time.

Do you offer Airbrush makeup?  
No.


Do you provide lashes or should I bring my own?
We have a variety of lash options; individuals, clusters or lash strips. Mink or specialty lashes are an additional charge.

​Will my makeup last all day?
Yes. We use waterproof and water resistant products to ensure longevity of wear. JPC also provides a personalized makeup touch-up kit for all makeup clients.

I like natural makeup, is that something you do? Absolutely!  Natural makeup is our favorite.

But, I mean *really* natural! Is that still okay?!
YES!  We  LOVE super natural looks!  We help brides with no foundation and grooms with concealer and powder...no lashes, no problem, no lipstick, easy!

How do you sanitize your kit?
I know that lately this has been a massive concern and I am so happy that I have always been a germophobe. To read a more detailed answer; Please see above in "General Questions"




Hair Questions:

Is a blowdry included in my "Hairstyle price"?
No. We require the hair to be clean and completely dry for all hair styling. A blowdry is a separate service and cost.

Does it cost more if I use my clip-in/Halo extensions?
Yes, We do not provide any extensions. If we work with your clip-in/Halo extensions, it's an additional $30 per person.

What brand of extensions do you recommend?
We highly recommend The Hair Shop. They have an online store as well as brick and mortar locations in LA, SF and NYC.
Please purchase: 100% human, Remi hair.


Should my hair be clean or dirty on the day of? Please have clean, dry hair for the wedding day.

Do you work with curly hair?
We LOVE curls! If you have any specific requests, let us know.


What about short hair? 
We have rates for short vs. long hair for any gender.
